If you’ve followed me for a while, or know me personally, you know that I love meditations that include a mantra that you repeat out loud. For me, its an easy way to get my mind off of other things that are going on in my world. Plus, it’s just fun and makes me feel good.
This is one such meditation. And I will be honest, it may take a bit of practice. You’ll be repeating a mantra three times on one breath. That’s a lot of words—but it’s doable, and you’ll get the hang of it in no time!
The words are: Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Wahay Guru
Sat Nam means true identity. Guru (pronounced Gu-do) is that which brings you from darkness to light. Wahay is an exclamation of awe and ecstasy. Wahay Guru expresses the indescribable experience of going from darkness to light or from ignorance to true understanding.
Sitting either on the floor or in a chair. Relaxing your arms down with the elbows bent. Drawing the forearms in toward each other until the hands meet in front of the body about one inch above the navel. Placing the palms up, and rest the right hand in the palm of the left hand. Now bringing the thumb tips together, and pulling the thumbs toward the body.
Focusing your eyes at the tip of your nose. Inhaling and then on the exhale begin repeating the mantra three times. Inhaling again and repeat.
I’d love to hear about your experience in the comments and as always, am grateful if you pass along this video and/or let other know about my page.
