Join me for a simple three-part meditation to help you clear your mind of distracting thoughts and attachments and focus on the future you want to create.
It is recommended that you practice this meditation on an empty stomach, which makes it a nice way to start your day.
Sitting tall with a straight spine. Joining together the tips of the index fingers and thumbs, the rest of your fingers are straight and placing the back of the wrists on your knees (Gyan Mudra). Your eyes are closed.
Part 1: Drink the breath in a single, deep, long sip through your mouth. Close the mouth and exhale through your nose, slowly and completely.
Part 2: Inhale and hold the breath comfortably. As you hold the breath in, meditate on concept of zero–all negative, emotional, mental and physical conditions and situations. As each thing crosses the mind, reduce it to zero—a single point of light, a small, insignificant non-fact. Exhale and repeat; breathing in a comfortable rhythm.
Part 3: Summarize in one word what would bring you happiness. Lock it in and visualize all aspects of it. Inhale and gently hold the breath as you beam the thought in a continuous stream. Lock onto it. Relax the breath as needed.

Today I’ll be guiding you through some breathwork that will help bring you to a place of calm and thoughtlessness when outside circumstances suggest otherwise.
It’s a form of alternate nostril breathing, which can be very therapeutic for our health, emotions and state of mind.
Sitting tall—either in a chair or on the floor–Using your right index finger to alternately open and close the nostrils in the following sequence: Inhaling deeply through the left nostril, suspending the breath 45 seconds, exhaling through the right nostril in 4 equal parts. After a few minutes, continuing the breath pattern, but change the exhalation to eight equal strokes.

Here’s a useful breathing technique to use during the summer months to help cool your body temperature. It can also be used to cool your emotions when you are feeling angry or frustrated. I’ll tell you right now, it looks a little goofy, but it’s worth it!
This practice, also known as Sitali Pranayam, is ideal for beginners and can be done sitting on the floor or in a chair.
Curl the tongue into a “U,” and stick it just outside of the lips. Not everyone is able to roll their tongue, so if that’s you, simply stick your tongue about halfway out of your mouth. Inhale deeply through your rolled tongue (or around your tongue), and exhale through your nose.

Bring yourself to a place of stillness and experience a three-part meditation for inner assessment.
You can do this sitting on the floor in a comfortable cross-legged position or in a chair with your feet flat on the floor.
Part 1: To know your inner balance
Bring your hands into prayer pose at the center of the chest, and then slide your left hand up so the right palm is resting on your left forearm, just below the wrist. Close your eyes, focus at the third-eye point (the point between your two brows) and take very slow, deep breaths through the nose.
Part 2: To know your inner projection
Bring your thumbs to the spot on either side of your nose just under the brow, then press the base of your palms together and slowly join the rest of your hands together, touching your fingertips together last. Keeping your eyes closed, focused at the third-eye point, and continue to take very slow, deep breaths through the nose.
Part 3: To know your inner strength
Place your hands right over left onto your heart center and press as hard as you can. Continue to focus your closed eyes at the third-eye point and continue to breath slowly and deeply through the nose.
