Your Moment of Calm with Ravi Pritam: Reboot your thought patterns

Do you ever find yourself dwelling on a particular thought or situation and find it really hard to let go? Yeah, me too! This simple technique can help. In just three minutes, it will help your mind to turn a new page.

You can do this sitting in a chair or on the floor—as long as your spine is straight.  Take your left hand and put it in a “hang loose” position—with the index, middle and ring finger folded into the palm. The pinky and thumb are extended straight.

Touch the thumb to the point between your two brows, and wrap your right hand around the pinky. Adjust your elbows so the forearms are parallel to the ground (to the best of your ability).

Now think of a troubling thought, close your eyes, and just breathe normally in and out through the nose.

Your Moment of Calm with Ravi Pritam: Meditation for compassion & humility

Today we’ll be practicing a very beautiful meditation to open your heart and help you feel more connected to the world around you.

Sitting either on the floor or in a chair, we’ll be forming our hands into a lotus flower: joining the base of the palms together as well as the sides of the thumbs and the tips of the little fingers. The rest of the fingers spread to form the lotus petals. Holding the hands 4 or 5 inches in front of the Heart Center.

Focusing your eyes on the tips of your thumbs without lowering your head. Begin breathing long, deep and slow in and out through your nose. You will feel the exhaled breath over the thumbs.

Your Moment of Calm with Ravi Pritam: Calming breath for panic

One of my favorite things about practicing Kundalini Yoga is the techniques I’ve learned to help me outside the yoga studio to help with stress, fatigue and other things.

This is one of those techniques. It’s a very calming breath technique that can help you manage the effects of acute panic attacks by regulating the level of carbon dioxide in the blood.

If you’ve ever experienced a panic attack, you know how scary it can be. By practicing this breathwork (or something like it) on a regular basis, you’ll be more confident and ready to use it when you feel a panic attack coming on.

It’s quite simple:

Purse your lips into a pucker, like you are about to give someone a kiss.

Inhale through your nose for a count of three.

Exhale through your puckered lips for a count of six.

This video is not intended to be a substitute for professional or treatment. If panic attacks are an ongoing issue for you, please seek the advice of a mental health professional or other qualified health provider.

Your Moment of Calm with Ravi Pritam: Meditation for a neutral state of mind

In today’s Moment of Calm, I’ll be guiding you through a simple and calming meditation that is ideal for anytime you are feeling nervous or a little blue. It is said to bring you to a neutral state of mind in just 12 minutes. We’ll only be practicing for a third of that time, but I know you’ll notice a difference in the way you feel.

Begin by sitting in a meditative posture—whether it’s on the floor or in a chair. Interlacing your fingers together with the index fingers pointing straight out and touching each other. One thumb crosses over the other. Holding your hands at heart center and closing your eyes with your gaze straight forward.

Breathe long and deep for three minutes (we just do this for one minute in the video). After this time, and holding your hands in the same position, begin repeating in a loud whisper, Sa-Ta-Na-Ma. Continue for nine minutes (we do this for three in the video.)

Please let me and others know about your experience in the comments. As always, am grateful if you pass along this video and/or let other know about my channel.

Your Moment of Calm with Ravi Pritam: Meditation to calm & clear your mind

Please join me as I guide you through a very relaxing breathwork meditation that will help calm and clear your mind.

Sitting in a comfortable meditative position with a straight spine. Interlacing all of your fingers except the ring fingers. Tucking the ring fingers in and crossing them so the pads of each ring finger touch. Joining the palms together and holding the mudra in front of your Heart Center. Your elbows can be relaxed by your sides

With your eyes 1/10th open, you’ll be inhaling in four separate strokes through the nose. With each stroke, silently repeating the word “so.” Then exhaling through the nose in four separate strokes, each time silently repeating the word “hung.” “So hung” means Infinity, I am thou—an acknowledgment that you are a part of something much larger than your personal identity.
