Your Moment of Calm with Ravi Pritam: My favorite meditations for stress – Video 3

With all of the meditations and breathing techniques that I’ve learned and have access to, you’d think that I’d always know exactly what to use for any situation. That’s not often the case, especially when it comes to stress. With one exception—and I’ll be sharing it with you in this video.

It’s my “go to” breathwork whenever I’m feeling a little anxious—why? Because it’s easy to remember and it’s effective. It’s great to do when you are feeling overwhelmed with any type of emotion, such as anger, sadness or frustration, as it will help calm and center you—and it only takes three minutes!

You can do this sitting on the floor or in a chair. If you are in a chair, make sure both feet are flat on the floor. Bringing your palms together in prayer pose at your heart center with your thumbs resting against your sternum. Closing your eyes and inhaling in four equal “sniffs” through the nose and exhaling in four equal “sniffs” through the nose.

Your Moment of Calm with Ravi Pritam: My favorite meditations for stress – Video 2

Do you have a song, mantra or hymn that when you listen to it, it always brings you to a state of bliss? The mantra used in this meditation does it for me: Guru Guru Wa-hay Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru.

It is a mantra of humility, protection, relaxation and self-healing and we’ll be repeating it in a soft monotone voice. The “r” in “Guru” is pronounced like a “d.” “Ram” rhymes with calm and “Das” rhymes with floss.

This meditation is one of my favorites for stress—and is the second in my five-video series. You can find the first, at https://youtu.be/0UuP82Kbr9s.

You’ll be sitting in a peaceful meditative pose—either on the floor or in a chair with your eyes barely open. Men will touch the tip of the middle finger and thumb on their left hand and the tip of the ring finger and thumb on the right hand. Women reverse the mudras. The back of your hands will be rested on your knees.

Your Moment of Calm with Ravi Pritam: My favorite meditations for stress – Video 1

If you are thinking about starting a meditation practice to help with stress, but aren’t sure where to start, you’ve come to the right place! In this five-video series, I will be sharing my favorite Kundalini Yoga meditations to help you better handle stress, worry and anxiety.

Today’s meditation is a simple one, and great for beginners. Called the Meditation for Focus and Sweetness, it’s ideal to turn to when you are feeling anxious or distracted.

Taking the four fingers of your right hand and placing them on the left wrist. Positioning them so you can feel your pulse with each fingertip. With each beat of the pulse, mentally repeat the words “Sat Nam.” Sat Nam means my true identity. Closing your eyes and focusing at the third-eye point, the point between your brows.

Your Moment of Calm with Ravi Pritam: Balancing mind and heart unto infinity

Please join me for a beautiful and very calming meditation to balance the frequency and quality of the heart center, opening the potential for compassion and humility.

Sitting in a chair or a cross-legged position on the floor, you’ll bend your elbows and place your palms against your chest so you can tuck your thumbs into your armpits. The thumbs press against your ribs and the palms and fingers of each hand rest against the chest. Your upper arms can rest lightly again the rib cage.

Inhale deeply through the mouth with a whistle mentally repeating the word “So” (if you don’t make any sound when you whistle, just pucker your lips and inhale as if you were whistling). Completely exhale through the nose listening to the breath while mentally repeating the word “Hung.” “So Hung” means “Infinity, I am Thou.”

Continue for up to 11 minutes.

Your Moment of Calm with Ravi Pritam: Meditation to give you insight into the future

I am honored to guide you through a mediation that is said to give you guidance to be able to have insight into your future and to help you build your intuition. By mastering this meditation, you will focus on becoming conscious in your thoughts and actions. You’ll also strive for your words to have the power to saturate deeply so they inspire and always represent the truth.

While this meditation is most powerful during a full moon, you can practice it at any time.

Sitting with a straight spine and placing your hands into gyan mudra (the tips of the thumbs and index fingers touch and the rest of your fingers extend straight. Place the back of the wrists on your knees.)

Lock the edges of your front teeth together (you may need to move your lower jaw forward to align the upper and lower rows of teeth.) Your tongue touches the upper palate in a relaxed way and gently focus your eyes on the tip of your nose.

Mentally project the mantra Sa Ta Na Ma (all “a’s” are pronounced as the “a” in “father”) out from your third eye, the point between your two brows.
