Imagine yourself able to approach situations from a calmer perspective, able to make decisions objectively and with compassion. You can by developing a meditative mind. The breathwork meditation I guide you through in this video can help, simply called “Developing a Meditative Mind” from Kundalini Yoga.

It uses a whistling breath, which is very calming to the nervous system, along with specific positioning of the hands. If you can’t whistle, don’t let that deter you. Give this a try and just do your best—even if no sounds come out!

Sitting with a straight spine with your chin gently tucked and chest lifted. Using your right hand to pinch the right earlobe between your thumb and index finger. Letting your arm hang so the weight of the arm pulls the earlobe gently downward and placing your left hand over your navel.

Closing your eyes and breathing through the mouth with the inhale as a whistle.
